Zac’s Legacy Lives On
Zac Chunko gave everything he had to give. Through organ donation, he saved and transformed lives—his heart, both kidneys, liver, and corneas were all gifted to those in need. Even after death, Zac continued to serve others by donating his body to science.
As his mom Beth shared in WFMZ’s feature, “He wanted to do something spectacular in life. I can do the spectacular thing for him. I’ll carry that on for him.”

At The Chunko Foundation (TCF), we honor Zac Chunko’s profound impact on our lives. While mourning is a necessary part of loss, we want to go beyond just remembrance. We feel that same heartbreak, but our mission is to take Zac’s spirit—his love, his pain, and his struggles—and turn it into something powerful and lasting. Zac’s passion for skateboarding and music will forever be the foundation of our work, just as our commitment to mental health, addiction recovery, and suicide prevention will continue to guide us. This movement is about honoring him, yes, but also about making a real, lasting difference.

HSI has fostered numerous impactful projects, including another local initiative the Do It For Dom – Focus Foundation, which raises awareness for early cancer detection and funds critical research. Zac Chunko, affectionately known by his friends and family as Chunko, was an exceptionally remarkable individual whose profound intelligence and vibrant enthusiasm enriched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. A passionate skateboarder, a talented musician, and a deep thinker with a curious mind, Zac embraced life with an infectious spirit that inspired those around him.
Despite his ongoing battles with depression and the challenges of alcoholism, his genuine kindness, sharp intelligence, and unwavering dedication to others were always evident to those who spent time in his company.
We honor his enduring legacy and remember him fondly for his unwavering generosity, his infectious laughter, and his truly vibrant personality that touched so many hearts.
